Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th, 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On October 21, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she began to gain recognition. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music to the internet in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued posting her songs online, including her independent single Bound. In July of 2015, Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then and wanted her to create Rihanna references. In December 2008, it was revealed that Rihanna had hired to Dreamville Records. In the record Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat with Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP on Oct 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening performance. Also, she was featured on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it was also released on September 5th. The second single she released was called Grampa on the 9th of November. Then on the 13th of November two singles, titled No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this track as a single to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was accompanied by a music video on February 20 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in one week. In December 2018 she was performing as a support act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
