Kim Delaney is an American actress best known for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered the Emmy Award. Her credits are All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. Her upbringing was in a family that included four brothers. She envisioned becoming a court reporter during childhood but started modelling while in high school eventually garnering commercials after moving from New York. Her first role acting was when she was a young, innocent girl in the soap opera All My Children. Since then, Delaney has appeared in numerous film and television dramas. Her career hasn't been successful or happy personal life. The talented actress struggled to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fall apart. In 2005, she lost custody of her only son.
